We are excited to share the CAGEA Final Report, a comprehensive outcome of the research and collaboration carried out across Portugal, Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, and North Macedonia.
The report sheds light on current practices, challenges, and needs in career guidance for students aged 13–17. Through desk research, surveys with teachers, students, and parents, and a collection of 37 best practices, the report identifies a shared need: career guidance must start earlier, become more personalized, and actively involve teachers and families.
Key insights include:
- A lack of time, training, and tools limits teachers’ ability to guide students effectively.
- Students are self-aware and motivated, but lack structured opportunities to explore real career paths.
- Parents are emotionally supportive but need better access to information and ways to collaborate with schools.
The findings directly inform the next steps of the CAGEA project, including the development of a Career Guidance Manual, teacher resources, family toolkits, and a digital platform.
